noob coral question

1.026 isn't always the right number. My tank runs .024-.026 and all my corals seem happier at the .024 mark.

how are you sure the tank is cycled if you don't have a test kit.. how much lr do you have?

Are you using a calibrated refractometer to measure your SG?

Yes and I have a swing arm one in my tank all the time. Most pet stores and coral shops run 1.025 or less

when I put .024-.026 I meant 1.024-1.026 but I figured that was a given.

Pet stores are trying to save $$$. NSW is 1.0264.

How was your refractometer calibrated?

i have used distilled water and calibration fluid to calibrate it.

corals do get stressed they can take a couple of days to relax and extend polyps , if your water parameters are in correct your corals will suffer, salinty is a liittle low 1024 t0 1026 is prefered, whats temp, you need to get coral grow flouro bulbs, if your tank has cycled you still need to check, alk, cal, mag, nitrate, phos depending on corals some need max flow such as lps, sps, and some prefer less current such as corelamorphs and leathers, post a photo if you can

some corals go threw stages were they close up and dont open for a few days and they are ok they just dont open fully, just makesure oyur water test good you have good flow and the rightkind of light

ok thanks everyone he is now all opened up and pretty i guess he was just stressed or something
