^ Doh' thats not something i wanted to hear... but all the same thanks for the heads up... i guess in the mean time i'll have to try and see if i can find a fishing store that sells earthworms which are actually farmed, rather than collected, since pollution in this town can be pretty bad, and i'd be more worried about the types of ferts in the soil where they collect these worms for fishing...

Other wise, i'm just going to have to try and get some human consumption shrimp/prawns and cut them to size and see if he'll accept that???

Any way, thanks again for the heads up Whiskers :)

I'd try to get him on at least market shrimp and worms. I just stock up on frozen shrimp when its on sale. Its nice that I'm not having to dig for and rinse worms every night (it makes a huge mess). It also cuts down on me having to go to buy worms so frequently, and is good to have him on a varied diet.

^ I definitely agree with always trying to feed my fish a varied diet whenever possible... so i'm definitely going to try and find some frozen market shrimp and see if i can get him eating that as an extra supplement since i can always soak it in some vitamin water. for added benefit...

Since i've already started thread, i thought this would be the best place to ask the question, has any one got any good tips on how to ween a fire eel off live food and onto thawed foods, such as shrimp??? since i seem to be having trouble trying to get my eel to eat anything that isn't live...

So i'm just wondering could it be that i'm cutting up the food a little too large (although i do try and cut it down to the size of a small shrimp)? or is it just difficult to get them to change their diets???
