Noob interested in geckos and frogs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Can't go wrong with crested geckos.

29g high should be good for a group of either 3 females or 1 male and 2-3 females but if you can spare a 55g that would be even better.

Unless you decide to go with any species of horned, budgett's, or pyxies frogs.

ok thanks for the info. Now would i be able to mix some frogs and some geckos or will that not work?

A 10 gallon can house a single Leopard Gecko. They are also nice if you are just getting into reptiles. They are hardy and easy to care for.
A 10 gallon is way to small for a leo if you ask me. A smaller species like helmet gecko may work

i would suggest going outside when it starts to get warmer and trying to catch some stuff around your house. It is a good way to become familiar with a bunch of different herps and you would not need to worry much about heating requirements or other specifications. Skinks are always fun to keep because they are active and colorful. look around for some of those.
For now I would sugest getting a cb animal from a local breeder, not a pet shop, that way your garanteed is healty and eating. A wild cauth animal may be very rewarding but it needs much more experience, also he needs to know its local regulations before doing anything like it. Also and just for the record except for amphibs, thouse reps DO have heating and uv requiremens just like any other day time lizard. Unless he builded a outdoor enclosure at least a basking spot is needed.

10 gallon isn't ideal as bigger is always better but it can still house a single leo.
