never underestimate the growth rate of a fish. i got my ck in febuary when he was about 5" now in by july he was 10" and now he is about 13-14" i too started in a 30 gal. and moved to a 75gal now and when i graduate from college ill build my self a nice big tank (1000 gal Fingers Crossed!) i think it has alot to do with how much you feed and water quality. my ck is in the tank with a angel fish thats 2.5" long and 3~" tall he doesnt chase it at all. the rule to live by in ck's is if it doesnt fit in his mouth and it doesnt get into his teritory he will leave it alone. my 5" bala is starting to get stressed and im sure that within a month or two he may become dinner.
