noob shark question

There are a few cool water catsharks that max out in the 16-22" range which are possible for private aquarists to get. But generally these tend to be hard to find & fairly expensive.

i knew there was some smaller sharks, but the avalibility was my issue...those catsharks would still at some point out grow the 55gal, but are more reasonable size wise for a home aquarium...
 
Yeah - even small catsharks require tank that are more than 200 gallons. The more common species of catsharks (Coral & Marbled) require at least 360 gallon tanks or more.

The smaller species of Bamboos & epaulettes tend to require at least a 480 gallon tank. The bigger species tend to require tanks that are more than 750 gallons, for life.
