That's usually true. I had a pac man frog and a ball python years ago in the first few years my husband and I lived together. He claims he's not scared of them, watched me feed/handle them, but would not touch them. Not once in the years we had them. True I did get the ball from a kid I worked with that claimed he was savagely bitten and couldn't get it off. But I really believe he was playing with the mice then didn't wash his hands, reached in and tried to pick up the snake to move it to his feeding enclosure.
So I don't think it was the snakes fault. My husband's tolerant, and I'm thinking about a snake in about a year 
finances permitting. Still not decided on a species, but balls are not my favorite. I'm glad to hear things are working out.
