I guess the LFS said it was OK to put 2 clown loaches in a 55 ??? The are a skooling fish and you need 5-6. But also 5-6 wouldn't work in a 55 either because they get to big. UGH

There is also a bubble stone and some pieces of drift wood.

I'm not expert on planted tanks but I have always kept live plants well. It is my understanding that bubblers in CO2 assisted planted tanks are no good. Basically just releasing your waters CO2 from all the surface breaking.

When I use sand to plant my tanks I always mix it with fluorite at least 50/50 keeps it from compacting and plants love it. However this is just my opinion.

BTW I love the avatar..

for the clown loaches and fish i actually get a better deal ordering them through another fish store then the one i got my plant advise from. Kinda sad but the better deal comes from a newer pet store thats more other pet orientated. I give alot of business to the one that gives me advise i just am also living on a budget and the one fish store tells me to use the one alot if i can get a better deal. It is kinda cool to watch this tank right now. Adding 15 fish to it at once was not an ideal thing but one thing happened that is very interesting, the loaches and the tiger barbs all run as one school. I'm not sure if this happeneds alot when adding them at the same time but it is really interesting to watch 2 2.5" fish swim in a school of 1" fish.

And to clear things up im not a noob to fish keeping just most of my tank normally hold flower horns, catfish, an eel or some other giant predator so really working at keeping a nice friendly tank with lots of plants for awhile.

First off, Hi from Stevens Point Area.

Bubble stone is no good for your co2 as is mentioned above. They sell $4 shipped glass diffusers from china on ebay, but buy several in case the one you get is faulty or to have one ready to go when one needs cleaning.

Clowns really love friends, (although I have seen them successfully kept singly.), and the larger the group the better.

These fish also get very large, and very fat, and will outgrow your 55g.

I have a diffuser hooked up to the c02 system. I am running a bubble stone to keep the oxygen right in the tank for the fish. They are located on opposite ends of the tank to try and not cancel each other out as much as I can. Sorry if I had confused anyone with the bubble stone comments. As far as fish out growing tanks I have a 125 set up at my rents house I can move the loaches to and in about 5 months will be done with school so can put my 10' x 15' pond liner to use.
