Well as the title states I lost my first pbass since I started keeping them it was one of my 4 WC temensis from Lovethemfish I don't know what happend he was fine swimming around then all of a sudden he's trying to leap out of the tank then just falls to the ground water parameter s are ok but I don't know what happened it was only 3 months old do u guys think this could have been from the first attack I had happen when I almost lost 5 fish? I'm at a loss for words at the moment the weird part I did find on the fish was a bloody anus could this just be from the death or a internal parasite any info would help me understand or at least try to View attachment 936273View attachment 936274

Happens Big Guy !!! Temensis Pinima Azul on occasian the smaller species not so much !!!If you water is tight like ya say he could have been just foolin around (Playing ) then damged himself almost like being paralized actually i think they are and they never breath again was that sorta what happened???These fish are tough sometimes!!

Thanks hulon yeah this is kinda what happend it was him jumping out of the water in the tank that caught my attention and after the 3rd jump it just fell to the ground and tryed swimming off one last time and stopped breathing It died literally before I could get my net down to it but after talking to Tj I found out these tems were never fed live before and I'm at a loss as to what happen but I do do 2 - 3 water changes weekly but I gave it a proper barrial in the rose garden lol I couldn't bring my self to throw it away

Sorry for your loss, all the cichla that I have lost went into my mom garden area, but I hav a wc Rio orinoco tem that rammed himself into the tank and is permanently bent I guess you can say, I'll take a picture so you can see but he seems to be doing okay he eat perfectly fine he's actually the one that eats the most in the group. But ya these cichla are tough.

But as for the parasite, I have found out that quarantine tanks are the best way to go I have a 20,40, as my quarantine tanks. my 20 is for my feeder goldfish that I occasionally feed to my cichla as a treat once every 2 months, I use the Kordon Malachite Green treatment. I use this before I put my feeders in and also after I put my feeders in. I also use this when I introduce a new cichla or cichlid into the tank. What I like about it, is Malichite Green bonds reallys good to the parasite and interferes with their metabolism so it slowly kills them. Now that's if your talking about if you think your tem got a internal parasite from that feeder. But I'm starting to think that maybe HULON is right about playing around and ramming himself into the side of the tank and possibly paralyzing himself. I don't know or maybe from his red anus maybe he just voided his bowels, I don't I'm kind of at a loss to because I wish I can help you but I can't at this points. Once again I'm sorry for your loss, he or she was a beauty!!;)

Tell ppl its a freaky kok.

Lol that's funny and yeah its beyond my knowledge and that's the only thing I can or could find wrong with it so I dunno but none of my other bass have the red around the anus and fin area so that's the only thing that leads me to think parasite but like the others had said it always wanted food so I dunno cuz none of them never ignore the food unless I feed to many times that day then they won't eat for maybe 6-8 hrs and then they take again so it is sad to see it go cuz it was the best looking one in the group it always showed off like that but at least I still have 8 more to love and as soon as my jet ski sells I can fill the open spot :)
