Texas
Here recently I have noticed my Green Texas, which I think is a female, has darkened up quite abit. "She" is constantly by my Jaguars side and here lately seems to be doing some serious shaking, sometimes 5-10 seconds at a time. Are these actions normal for the spawning process or is this something to be concerned about?

Previously they were together in a smaller tank. Now they are being housed in a 100 gallon tank that been set up for less than 2 weeks. I'm sure I did not cycle the tank properly. I took water from the 30 gal put it in the larger tank and filled the rest with fresh water from the tap. Tried seeding the tank with the small bio wheel and old water.

Is this normal breeding paterns or could it be a result of not letting the tank cycle properly?

Turning a dark color is normal for them as it is a sign of maturing. They are very adaptable to changes in water chemistry so I wouldn't worry about the tank with only these two fish I doubt your bioload is enough to produce a large ammonia spike. Juviniles are prone to intestinal diseases so since it is just now reaching maturity you may want to look into that.

i would say its normal breeding behavior.
the back half of her body is turning black thats mating color.
but it could be 2 males or females pairing up i have had that when they are dif species

the back part of her is kind of black and underside is a dark blue.............. any tell tale signs to determine the sex of the Jag?
