Could be ,but it could also mean water quality issues. How are your H2o parameters?
Btw I see you are in Poughkeepsie ,would that be New York or Nebraska?

yeah def check your water params then sounds like something is up, did you have a temp fluctuation recently? usually for me when i have a temp fluctuation from something then that is really the only time iv ever gotten ich so check all your water parameters n then everyone will be able to better help with figuring out how to fix it

loss of slime coat means the waters not right and as the fish was stressed it got ich as its immune system is down.

change of water is the first thing to do
add a heater to the tank
give half the dosage of salt as cats like these don't have scales and don't do well with too much salt

BTW dissolve salt in water and then add it to the tank

Wow u learn alot on this site. i have an api test kit. The water test fine everyday. But... I did jus change some water out and the temp went down a few degrees for a few hours. Its at 80 now and im treating him with ick- attack. Thanks guys

Check your P M,s and what size tank do you have?

my rtc looks better today. Most of his spots are gone. Hes still rubbing the gravel a little though. Ill keep treatment, gravel reduction and water changes for the next couple of days.
