Normal L128 (blue phantom) behavior?

My big blue phantum is 7inches and he is by far my most active pleco. However, my girlfriend and I have lost 2 smaller blue phantums mysteriously in other tanks and that the way they were behaving before they croaked.
Thats how my bristlenose was. He didn't run away from my hand but was pretty active, but I never really saw him eat anything. I even put a Hikari Algae Waffer right next to him and left it there overnight, and he never ate a thing. There was plenty of algae to eat in the tank as well. Then, wham! He died. Sad stuff.

I can only assume he was eating really. There was plenty of food living in and being put into the tank. He never appeared skinny or anything.

I try to feed small sinking and algae wafers a couple times at night to make sure my plecos and other catfish eat.

I usually hang half a zucchini, When the lights dim, all the plecos would chew on it...and I can judge if plecos are eating or not by the leftovers in the morning

I had given them sinking wafers, but there are 5 other plecos in there so I have no way of knowing who ate them.
