Well seeing as how this is the first 3' fish I have ever owned I am kinda confused this week. You'll just have to look at the pics below. My tsn x rtc hybrid seems to be losing his spots. Not really just thinning out like normal as ge grows. They are hollowing out from the center out. I will put some pics from two weeks ago, and pics from today. There's no holes, just losing the color in the center of the spots. This happen to anyone else? Water params are perfect, gets 25% water changes every 5 days. I'm just affraid. Had him for 2 years, and eats like a champ always. No discoloration on the brown part just the black spots. It's confusing! Anyways must be normal, but let me know what you think. It's happened within the last 2 weeks is the confusing part. Usually spots change over time!

could be age but there is still alot to learn about cross and what the effects of colour and size would be if any! these forms of cats are still in early stages and I am shure there will be alot on new things to learn over time! what i have found with big cats aslong as they are eating then they are generally ok, its when they stop eating you have to worry, but big cats are generally tough as nails!!!
P.S picking one up next week caint wait!!!

Yeah that's really weird... is the greenish coloring around the gills just part of the picture?

It's probably the reflection off the green pond. The flash probably bounced, but he kinda has a greenish brown tint to him anyway.

Looks like the fins are losing their color too... weird... I know that color changes are common in cats.... is there a difference in the amount of light in his area? keeping a light on longer or not as much can actually make them change their color to "blend in"... I'm really not sure about the hybrids if they have a similar type of ability or if this is some sort of genetic weakness... should be interesting to see more though.

this has happened to my bn polecos before, nothing has happened to them. but i can never ride it out to see what it is because my fish always bully them to death. when you figure out what happened tell me

I wouldn't worry about it man, based on some pics I've seen elsewhere your's still had alot more spots than most of the other RTC X TSN hybrids at that size, I bet the spots just thin out a little bit over the next few months. Check out a few pics here http://www.anglingthailand.com/gallery/imagedata.asp?cat=sorubim#

If you look at most of those hyrbids they have significantly less spots than yours and some on that other thai angling sight are almost spotless and just white based with brown and black TSN style stripes. If he's still eating and you know your water is good, I'd say sit back and enjoy the transformation :) You got pm also ~Trent

It's just strange. I've never seen a catfish spots just go away from the middle out. Hopefully everything is ok.
