Rhoms are notorious for being slow growers.. thats why its better to get a good size piece if you have no patience in growing out fish.. its gonna take a whiile to grow that bad boy to 10 "

Yep as Wesley said they are slow growers, getting a larger one is always easyer but the bigger they are the bigger the price tag on them..

what have you been feeding it and how often? why not just keep live food in the tank and replace when needed

ignore the last post of feeding live food it can stunt the growth of your fish and can also increase the chance of them getting diseases and parasites.....the best food is what you are doing now....shrimp,beefheart,krill,white fish fillets....and also if you dont have a powerhead in your tank to create a current you could try that since most piranhas live in fast parts of streams they like them and if he uses it and is more active he will eat more and in turn grow fast......

A power head and weekly water changes is the best.Whats the water temp? I keep mine at 80 plus all fish are not the same.
