Northern Pikeminnow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
is it just me that thinks that in some of the pics they resemble juvie suckers? Ive seen suckers in a lake i fish that look just like those. particalurly the pic with it eating off the wood with swordtails in the back

Well i've have a few die regretfully and they seam like a regular mouth... just more of a down angle... I looked up Catostomid species and those look nothing like this...

I am actually thinking juvie peamouth chub (Mylochielus caurinus) pretty common in western Washington, do best in well oxygenated, cool water.max out at about14"
though I have never seen one that big.
The northern pikeminnow gets larger though not as big as the colorado or sacramento ones, they are agressive feeders but again need cool, oxegenated water, the lower 2 pics are pikeminnows, the upper one is a peamouth.

The large scale was my first thought, also very common in the Seattle area, Just seemed a bit smooth skinned to me.
