I am keeping it for life. It's going in a 29 tonight! It is like 5-6 inches long.I will upgrade when and if needed.I just talked to a friend on AIM who told me about the wet/dry and hides plan.I also will be providing a light for basking.
One more question. What will make good hiding spots for him?
Peaces of cork, a hollow log, etc;) Just make shure you dont use any aromatic woods: pine ,cedar, etc

Yep cork bark is good, or even a small box if you're not looking for natural. Scent some pinkies with raw fish and he should take them pretty quickly, your nose will thank you.

Hey thanks guys.I set it up last night. That is a party-style salad container for the water, with good old school Penn-plax lock-rocks ascending out of the water so he can dry off and bask.I have a 100 watt incandescent on him, I'll leave it off on hot days, fairly cool today. In the picks you can see him fully out of the water getting some heat under the top rocks.

I was told a leaf litter on the dry part would be a good addition.I'm just waiting for the answer on if it's ok to use White Oak leaves.

Ha I remember those penn plax rocks, I had the blue ones.

I should think so. Put them in the nuker for a few seconds to get rid of any nasties.

Cool. They're pretty good eaters. Do you throw them in the waterbowl and he fishes for them? That must be fun to watch...
