So i am a little upset right now as i watch my bowfin have trouble keeping himself upright. This morning i lost one of my bichirs for a reason i dont know of yet and know im worried i will lose my bowfin. Here is a link to my thread about losing my sen http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388464
As it says in my other thread about losing my bichir i did a 50% wc last night and this morning i lost my sen. But he is gone and there isn't anything i can do for him now so i just have to focus on saving what fish i have and figure out whats going on and if its related. I tested my water today and everything seems to be fine just a little low ph. From what it looks like with my bowfin is swim bladder disease, can they get that? He eats normally and is about 8''. Ive usually feed my 75 which he is in blood worms and cut raw shrimp. So basically he sorta just rocks back and fourth and when he gets almost on his side he adjusts himself back upright so if anyone knows what may be wrong please let me know, id hate to lose another fish.:(:(

Is this a new tank? Maybe the raw shrimp has preservatives.

Its been set up a little over a year now. I use to feed them tilapia cut up but i switch between that and raw shrimp now.

Could be constipated, if he/she is still eating try giving it a few de-shelld peas.

SBD is not contagious and can be coused by a number of things including overfeeding, bacterial infections, injury etc.

Ive noticed hes been darting around the tank lately. He never really use to do that unless there was a fast movement outside the tank.

Yeah do you have tap water? When i moved to the apartment I am in now I did not know I was going to be so close to the water treatment plant. Most of the time the water smells like striaght chlorine. Just a thought

Yeah i am sorta close to the water treatment plant but ive been using the same water for the last year with no problems and now it seems there is something wrong.

So i just did a 25% wc and added some stress zyme to see if that would help. I also moved one of my angels to see if maybe it would keep my bowfin from being stressed. But he isnt looking so good and i really hope i dont lose him.

So i woke up to my second sen dead. I have no clue on whats going on, my water is in perfect condition and it showed no signs of dying lastnight.
