About 1 month ago one of my hatchet fish jumped out of my tank. Now I just found another, don't know how long it's been there... Aparently my lid isn't tight enough...
Anyway, here is a some picture. The fish is completly dry, and hard as card board...:(

Yeah, I have a lid of plastic all the way over my tank so that water doesn't get up into my aquarium light. Just until I make a hood...
It must of jumped out when I did a water change!.....:?

Ive had hatchets doing the same thing in a almost fully covered tank. they found the only little hole in the lid.

I have also had this happen, and my tank is also almost completely covered. The last time it happened, one of my cats found the fish before I did, but he'd been there awhile already. It really sucks.

these fish jump a lot in the wild when being chased......... my friend had 6 jump out of his tank all in one day and he couldnt find the hole but he found out they jumped out of a hole about the size of a quarter......... at a lfs they have a 90 gallon tank that is fully planted with a fair ammount of floating plants with a open lid and has like 8 silver hatchet fish around 3" and have been in there for years and dont jump out and theres a bunch of fish in the tank that could prevoke them to jump but they just dont....... kinda weird but i think they are trying to get out of direct light so they jump and then die????? maybe they require a fully planted tank with plent of floating plants.......

Yeah, well back to thefishstore to get more, after I make a hood for my tank...with no holes!
