Not cycled yet?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sorry that is wrong. prime binds to the cloramides (SP) but does not cause a false reading., I asked because the chart never jives with the test. you drop on a carpet and look from a distance you get better color reading. if there is any yellow, ammonia good.

It says on the bottle it could.. haha

To make sure your test kit is good, try testing just your tap water(with and without Prime)

not sure what prime you are using. perhaps safe. I have 2 bottles in front of me and neither say it will mask water test results.

10 ppm suggest tank cycled, you may need to add some more bio filtration if the ammonia test still coming up green

I already have 2 litters of bio max in my filters do I need more

sun sun filter, not a big fan but has some great reviews. your problem may be blow past, or water is circulating to fast. they have no valve to slow it down so may want to add one, ideally you are looking for a 5x per hour on a canister and 10x on a HOB. I would add a AC 110, great reliable filter with plenty of media room, can get on sale for 60 or so, regular around 80. how do you clean your filters?

I got 2 of those Sunsun HW304b on my 180 and a HW302 on my 75gal. Ammonia is 0. I filled 3 of the 4 trays with ceramic rings on the 304s. How many trays (per canister) are you using in regards to the Matrix? Maybe the Matrix is packed too "tightly" which is preventing good water flow thoroughly thru the media itself thus hindering good oxygenation for bb? My ceramics are all in mesh bags, with 2 bags in each tray, so plenty of open spaces for water to flow throughout.
