Let me clarify my statement. I was explaining that the lack of humidity in a tortoise's enclosure was a cause for pyramiding, when proper dietary/husbandry requirements are already being met.

I really don't know exactly what steps BogWood takes towards proper husbandry. I just assume he is taking proper care to the best of his knowledge. I was trying to explain to the others, who responded with their explinations of pyramiding.

If you'd like pyramiding explained a little further, follow this link:

I see. So if your diet is proper and correct the only other thing it can be is inproper humidity in enclosure.

Boggy, Tortoises arent really like harder species of fish to breed. When the male feels like it, he will constantly pester, stress and snap at the female to breed with her. You won't have to do anything to get them to breed. Thats why you would need another female, because it will happen, it could happen 3 years from now, in a month lol, you just don't know. Trust me, I'm not saying it to be a fuss-arse, or on the slight/chance it may happen. It will definately happen. It's just part of the care for tortoises when housing them together you must abide by. If you want one for companionship, get another female :)

I agree with you, if you are not into breeding tortoises; why bother? Although I never really understood why people think reptiles and inverts need companions.

Nice, was it female, wish my dad bought me tortoises whenever I wanted one :P :(
