Not exactly a DIY, but I did it Myself

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My wife helped me with my ol' school 110 high and I know it weighs 300+ empty. She just happens to be 6'1 and that plays into my favor quite often.

Moving things yourself can be difficult. I can carry a 55g w/o issue. Moving a 75g is a little more of a task. I've put the 75g on the stand by putting it on end and tilting it to the stand and the lifting the side on the ground until the bottom touches the top of the stand. At that point I just guide it easily onto the stand. It's worked so far. I can move the 125g myself by using the same method, but w/ furniture dollies. Moving heavy objects is usually not an issue for me since I have plenty of tools at my disposal. The issue is moving heavy objects that break easy.

Your Mother must really really love you. Most parents would FREAK at that amount of weight on the floor of the Upstairs. Is the Dining Room table directly below your Bedroom? :-) Or even worse, the Living Room Couch? Anyways. 90 Gallon Tanks are Awesome.

Nothing but the dinning room table, china cabnet with atleast a grand worth of crystal, a chandeller...

But it's on a thick arch and outside wall so it could probably hold just about anything.

She was however sceptical about the whole thing, she was nervious when i wanted a 55 gallon, which somehow turned into a 75 gallon, which somehow turned into a 90 gallon. :D

Situations like this are when it's nice to have a teenage daughter with a football player boyfriend ... "sure honey, he can come over for dinner today".
