So i just bought a 125g tank a while back, and i'm hopefully finally going to get around to setting it up. Right now i have a 55g set up in the exact spot i would like to put it. Therein lies the dilemma. I have never had to move a tank before and i don't know how to go about it. What i was thinking was taking the fish out and putting them in a spare tank with the tank water and filter and heater then moving the tank they were in and replacing it with the bigger tank then filling it half way with water and setting up the filtration, heater, etc.. Then putting the filter from the original tank and original tank water so that i wouldn't have to cycle, then add the fish. I'm sure there is a few holes in my plan which is why i would like some help from some experienced mfkers. Any and all advice and help is appreciated and thank you in advance!

I was thinking about it, but I would really like to have sand on the bottom. I was thinking maybe I could find some sort of fine mesh bag that I could put it all in and put it in the tank until it is fully established. The only problem with that is that its like 40lbs of gravel lol. I would like the additional bb but I'm not sure if its worth the headache lol.

Sounds like a good plan. I would let the tank cycle on that tank for a little bit beforehand though and add some of the orginal tank water into the tank too. Putting the rocks in there isn't a bad idea but you really don't have to do that, the filter will be enough.

if you use the filters from your established tank your stock should be ok,just dont add any more fish until NEW filter is established . you could also use prime to de-tox amonia and nitrites

You're good as soon as its up to temperature.

Sent from my phone because I'm just that cool...
