Well I came home last night only to find just about all the eggs gone

It is very likely that they will spawn again in the near future. Sometimes it takes a little practice before they get it right. You have a beautiful pair there. They are more than "a little rare" in my area. Hopefully you will be able to raise fry and spread them around to others soon.
