Not so messy fish food?

You can make your own fish food like me. However I still use pellets and white fish in their diet besides the fish food I make. The fish food I make consists of unflavored gelatin , Massivore, tilapia fillets, whole smelt, and something called Astaxanthin powder. I add the correct amount of hot water blend it all together add put it in the fridge and feed in 24 hrs. The food I make never clouds water because of the gelatin that binds all the particles that would normally spread. The fish seem to love it more than anything I buy from the store. But I only feed it once in a while. Hope I've given you an idea on how to get rid of that cloudy water. Maybe you are over feeding also try feeding less. What it could also be is the NLS I always use hikari and it never clouds like that.

Hikari is usually said to be a cleaner brand, but I've heard from many people on this forum that massivore is the exception. I know their frozen food is much cleaner than other brands, but I feel like I get less in each cube as well IME.

I find that small pellets often leave some uneaten in the crevices of your tank. Have you tried any flake foods? Even NLS flakes?

Also, what is your filtration like? And your pH?

Ph in this track is around 6.8. The fish stock had a lot to do with the messiness I think, but didn't know if was possible to find a good that didn't make so much mess. The filtration is 2 xp3s, 1 ac100 and a koralia 1500.

Once the acara, heckelii, or rh taps get a hold of the food, half of it comes out as particulate when they sift the sand which throws it in to the water column with the strong water flow. I don't feel like it's over feeding, everything is gone within a minute or so except what they've sifted out. It happens whether I put in a pinch or a half cap.

I've tried a variety of ways of feeding to see if it impacted the cloudiness but it doesn't matter.

I do have some OSI spirulina flake food that doesn't make any mess whatsoever but they need more than that in their diet.
Apologies for any typos. Phone sucks for this.

I've been feeding NLS for over a decade, and never once had the water get cloudy from feeding NLS, or for that matter any other brand of food that I've tried.

What size of pellets are you feeding?

I use a mixture of pellets, including NLS, with all my tanks (30-180) and never had any cloudiness during feeding.

How long does it take to go away after feeding? If it goes away in an hour or so, is it really something you can't put up with?

Maybe its actually the fine particulates of the sand thats causing the cloudiness and not actually the food.

Full Spectrum small fish formula (mistake on order) and thera+ regular formula. It only happens when the pellets are used. If it was the sand, it should happen when I throw in vegetable slices or flakes because the same feeding pattern occurs. Not to mention the taps sift all day

It's strictly related to both pellets. And generally lasts an hour or so.
