So far this new year has turned from awesome to horrible to we’ll see. On my previous post on DIY I dropped a 265 last year but got it fixed and holding water. I was so excited I got some sand on New Years eve. I had a buddy who let me he just uses standard fill sand from home depot. I liked the look more than regular b/c I liked that it had little pebbles and was more natural than pfs. I got 200 lbs and poured it in. It was really cloudy but I left it with an fx5 running and went to Louisville for New Years. I stopped by The Fish House and got an Aero, Bacu cat, and a beautiful Delhezi birchir with some food for a little over a hundred. The sand was cleared but it was clear that there were some was different from the other but the bags were all the same. Some looked right and some grey, but I liked it. I let the bags float for 2 hrs and let the birchir out. It immediately started convulsing so I took it out and put it back in the bag thinking maybe the water did not have enough time to match and It may be in slight shock. It died, and I let the other 2 float overnight. This morning I woke up to my FX5 humming with no water coming through. I freaked out but cleaned the motor and it was fine. Today I was going to let them in the tank but instead decided I didn’t like the Grey sand and was going to siphon it out. It turned into a nightmare once I found out that this felt like concrete. The trash had already came so there went my bags to re-read but I had to get in and chisel it all out causing countless blisters on my hands filled with concrete which popped and are now black and burning. After 4.5 hours of chiseling it looks decent and is filling up with no problems as of yet. I’m hoping this works out but at least I did not put in my seeded media I plan on using yet so I still have that going for me. My wife is mad and my hands are burning.

I believe there is a kind that sets when the standard concrete won't.
 
Really? Sounds like user error to me.
 
It was all but set true story and yes I was mostly just venting. All the bags said sand and I plan on going back today to see if I can find another one that may be mislabeled concrete. Trust me I would not be making this up I have better things to do, but believe it or not just a story.
