i just got a knife fish and im probably gonna take it back and possibly trade for an electric blue jack dempsey but im not sure if the fish in my 50g would hurt it or not. In my 50g there is 2 JDs 1 small RD 2 convicts and a chinese algae eater. Would a EBJD be ok in here?:nilly::):D:ROFL:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
get everything out of there black gravel/sand and 1 ebjd and it would be awsome
and the rd would pwn a ebjd

EBJDs are pansies when they are small. Everything picks on them. They can only be by themselves until they get larger, and even then you need to be careful about mixing with other fish.

no in your other post u want to know the signs of breeding JDs so i would just breed them and not get any other fish.

A regular JD would probably dominate the EBJD. Most EBJD's are not as aggressive. Never know, it all depends on each fishes tempermant.

For maximum potential out of the EBJD; house it alone as the only cichlid in the 50g. Use giant danios or silver dollars in with it as dithers.

Also an EBJD would not be a fish I would recommend to a person new in the hobby. They can be very prone to internal parasites and are on the expensive side if you make some mistakes. This is just my opinion, you may do just fine with it. But a couple of years of fishkeeping under your belt does give you more experience in dealing with these types of things.
