  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are some nice ones that are peaceful, just in general. Some are more violent than deadpool
I try to keep the nice ones, or at least the nicer ones, so I don't have to deal with injuries and death. The most I've had happen are a few ripped fins, which always heal within a few days.

I would think that is not too bad. I might try a kissing gourami and a RTBS as a semi aggressive tank later on.
This will likely end up in bloodshed

Just noticed this here, I commented in the other section, but here goes again.
Nandopsis haitiensu prefer much warmer temps than most others on your list. Most will do great and are healthiest in temps of high 70s, but haitiensus do best in the high 80s'F. When I first got haitiensus I lost 19 out of 20 by keeping them at too low temps, and in a cichlid community.
Temps for the other cichlids of over 82'F makes them vulnerable to bacterial infections like columnaris (duck lips) because that is where those bacteria are the most virulent.

Interesting to know about the duck lips when over 82'F

I was only joking. In my experience anything in a tank with dovii and ends up a tank with a single dovii, hence the joke. The only tank mates my old dovii would allow was sand. That dude was insane
Let's not jump conclusions.......why are we brushing off the Red Terror and Zebra Tilapia like they aren't cold-blooded killers also???
This is why i never got into cichlids. Nasty buggers

Good luck with the dovii
yea.....even though they are my passion, they really tend to PISS ME OFF SOMETIMES!!! LOLOL

no, u are right, I had a Buttekofferi back in 2010/2011 or so and he didn't start to get aggressive in the least until I had him about 2 years and he hit 8".....but things change after that....when I dropped him off at the LFS I sold him to, they also had a Butte.....he was around 18"-20" and in an 8-foot, 360 gallon alone....except a few bottom feeders, one of which was a 36"+ Paraiba. He wouldn't tolerate any other cichlids.

My Doviis and RTMs started doing that at 3".....
