I picked up a free tank and fish yesterday. 55 gal with oak stand, lights, filter, heater ect...

These poor fish were living in a 55 gal.

The male Jag is huge!
I would guess 18" and the female is atleast 14" or so.

I put them in my other 75 gal. but they need a much bigger tank.

I have a empty 6 ft X 18" tank in my basement but not sure if I feel like commiting to it, especially sence my basement is not finished and not a comfortable hang out.
I fear I just wouldn't enjoy them down there, and there's no room upstairs. Plus it's still only 18" wide.

Wondering If I should trade them in to a pet store or possibly trade to another forum menber for something alittle more my speed.
The girlfriend really wants a mated pair, so she can raise fry.

There's also a huge pleco, about 12".
I might keep him depending on what happens.

I don't know what I should do.
My girlfriend wants to just keep them in the 75 gal but I know better.

I think there cool but I was planning something more like alot of driftwood and more of a community tank with some smaller geo's or something.

If I trade them into a lfs how much credit will I get? Probally better off trying to find some one to trade with by myself right?

wow that guy is beautiful... i would avertise for someone who wants a pair... hate to see them broken up... he alone is magnificient but looks sad with out his partner..

I personally would keep the pair of Jags and put them in the 6' x 18" Aquarium. If you keep up w/ Water Changes they should work in there. I have a pair of Jags and they are my favorite fish. Please do not turn them into the LFS. If you need a home PM me and we can make some arrangements. I would not to have these guys fall into the wrong hands. I have a special affinity for Jags. They are highly interactive and intelligent. If you keep them then you could always use your 75 gallon for Medium Size CA Cichlid tank. You could also "TRY" other target/dithers in the 6' tank w/ the Jags. Some pairs will not tolerate other fish and other pairs have been ok w/ Silver Dollars, Plecos, 4 Line Cats, Tin Foil Barbs, etc.

you got them for free, so you cannot lose on any credit you get.

Or send them to me! Thats a great looking pair! I suggest keeping it. LFS credit is not bad too. Most LFS dont give much though. The LFS here would probably give $20-$30 for that pair alone then sell it for $100-$200 for the pair.
