In reply to "new species" that even some experts arent fully aware of yet...
Would you honestly recommend such a new species to...well anyone that doesn't "fish keep" as a full time job, or who is a master of the hobby?

Do you think the guy who wants to do something with that empty 190 in his garage should be expected to take care of a species that 99.8% of the population is unaware of?

Epic

While your intentions may be good, the idea isn't very plausible.

Case in point: I have had blind cave fish in the past, and loved them. After many years of Cichlids, etc, I found myself wondering what to do with my unique 6.6 gallon long, and asked the same question.
Somebody recommended blind cave tetras - I had COMPLETELY forgotten about them, and that was the PERFECT ANSWER! So, even going to stores daily, there are fish we overlook, so questions like this are well-founded, in fact.
If you find it frustrating, then avoid those threads. :)

epic, why not just ignore all those threads. if you REALLY need an answer, just bump it up once it gets down pretty far. then you don't need to start a thread like this that is even worse then those threads on "what should i stock my tank with?"

Im sort of with epic on that one more info would be good for the members/pro's to go on.

But then again the PRO'S could put the question to them what whens and hows ect ect ect they could be youngsters and never had fish befor and it would be nice to see them into the right way to go.

Dont you agree epic...?

Epic,
to answer your recent question - there have been quite a few newly discovered rasboras - these are very good beginner fish, and are just now popping up at local stores.
While they may not be "monster", they are still definitely new, and most of us don't know about them yet.

I think the comment regarding new species, correct me if im wrong was not specifically NEW species to the hobby but to the people themselves eg i had no idea what peacock bass were and that you could keep them in your home. Columbian tetras very common in canada but id never seen them in the uk and they arent a new species. I had no idea about the amount of CA cichlids till i got on here and most of those have been kept in aquaria for decades

I'm going to close this as I feel this may restrict the exchange of viable information on this site. As with every post concerning our hobby, any one question may yield an answer for hundreds of other members and guests.
