Not to offend anyone, but I have a question.

Q: what is in the KOK?

A: fats

its a sticky...

I had my Flowerhorn on display at a LFS. The first time I heard someone say, "Oh my God,
look at that fish!? He's so Ugly!? What's wrong with his head??" I grinned ear to ear.
I now own close to 40 flowerhorns....

I used to be strongly against all hybrids. Now look at me.........:irked:

I could not tell you. I personlly do not like the kok at all. I think it just looks like a giant deformation, like those awkward goldfish with thier incrediply droopy eyes or exploded head. I think the desire for them comes from the rarity of a really giant kok and the fact that its a result of kinda intense breeding. Think of it like a Chihuahua, totally and entire worthless as a dog, can't hunt, pull, survive on its own, look normal, but people absolutley love them.

My question is what is it about a flowerhorns kok that makes it so desirable? I mean in my opinion, it looks like a mutation/alien looking like feature. .

I think maybe we are forgettign a few CA and other cichlids that have Knuckle humps... And some event hat are Large !! ;) Equalling the similar kok ;) Difference for allot is not the kok... As many know of the CA Cichlids that have Knuckle that are LARGER than or same as some medium to large kok's.. But Most experienced Cichlid keepers will not be drawn away due to the VERY UN aline un mutation look of the FH ;) Mianly the colors drw many in.. And as far as those that have kept Amphilophus species and some other cichlids with knuckle humps.. They Mainly Love have the Different variations of Fh that resemb le LARGE headed Amphilophus .

But to say they look like mutations or aliens is not technically correct if it is due to head structure ...

i'm only speaking for myself, but i like a FH w/ a kok for the aesthetic reasons alone, nothing to do w/ rarity.

I really like the colors on FH especially the hot pink, red and blue/purple FHs....

I would never pay the amount of money its worth tho...

So far all my FHs are free.. I got 7 3" FHs right now that are driving me nuts... Had to seperate the two mean ones..

I also have about 8 FH babies.. that have yet to prove if they are REALLY FHs or Convicts...

But ya.. i'm ok with the Kok.. its kinda cool. but nothing special... AND these fish are aggressive too..

In Asia it's considered to be a sign of verility or wealth or something like that. Personally, I don't buy into any of that crap. Buy a fish that you like for reasons other than a magic dragon will appear and grant your wishes of 40 virgins and a pot o gold.

=( so arowana doesn't grant me my 40 virgins? shucks... not gonna get one now! LOL!

But yes.. I agree.. not a fan of the KOK, but the colors are beautiful!
It's just like how much I luv polypterus... but everyone around me who's seen them dun really like them at all!

I'm really not a fan of the flowerhorn look... but I also have spent lots of money on 'deformed' fancy goldfish, so I guess beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder :D

I think a nice ranchu is the most beautiful looking fish... I can't look at it and see a deformed fish, I just see beauty.
