Gold Tier Notho2000, Illustrious Aquaculturist

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my little beastie boy fell down for quick zzz's, so I'M BACK. Ha
I only posted Jim's own threads here, which is somewhat lacking on my end of the research deal :-)

He's canuckian. might not be easy to pry other info out of him, like how many gallons he keeps, & species breeding history etc.
but obviously been dedicated at it for a while.

Canuckian.

Keep at it Granny. We've already gotten endorsements, we just need a little more data to solidify it. Thus far we've got him for bronze contributor, we just need to see what his gallonage is and see what his breeding stock and timetable is.

Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence. I have been keeping fish (my first love cichlids, although I have ventured seriously to the "dark side" with killies.) for the better part of 55 years (guess that makes me kind of ancient). I've learned a lot in that time and like to pass it on as best I can. As you can tell from my posts, I find fish fascinating behaviorally and like to tell my personal accounts involving them.I spent 42 years as a classroom teacher (now retired) so I guess the "story-telling" might be part of that. I belong to the Aquarium Society of Winnipeg and contribute with programs and posting on the Winnipeg Fish Forum. I also contribute to the CRC, ACA, MFK (of course) and Cichlid-Forum where I am a moderator for SA cichlids and Tank Decoration. I love my involvement in the hobby and sharing it with anyone who will care to listen. I presently maintain 45 tanks and breeding fish is my main focus. I am seriously into Madagascan cichlids as well as CA and SA, and the Indian Etroplus genus too.
I have a wonderful wife who tolerates (and even encourages) my involvement, and I try to attend ACA conventions whenever I can. That's about it. Thanks petspoiler for the nomination. Much appreciated.

I've never even pm'd the guy before. what if he thinks I'm into that new mfk dating thing :-o
but seriously, I can try to find out more. is the protocol for nominators to actually know whom they are talking about? there's a whole new concept for me.
by timetable... you mean how long he's been at keeping/breeding or ...?

oops. sorry for the overlap. mods can delete my previous post. glad Jim popped in!

Jim, could you please be so kind as to give us a rundown of what sizes those 45 tanks are? You're likely eligible for an award for them.

I'll still answer your questions. You don't have to actually know the member you're nominating, you just have to know of their work. Of course everyone knows someone, so in theory anyone who's done something significant should be able to be recognized for their awards. I personally have nominated a few members that I've never typed a word to just because I'm aware of their work.

Thus far, I'm thinking gold breeder, bronze contributor and possibly a tank award.
