It is in the sump.

NO sump no nothing execpt the sponge filter I can see the front and bottom of the tanks, they are not drilled or anything. Their is only a sponge filter. It's not hot in the store but it is warm.

At almost any LFS I goto, the majority of the tanks do not have heaters. The rooms are usually quite packed with little air circulation so the air stays warm. In LFS with reef displays, the heat produced from a chiller will warm it up, as will a dehumidifier.

I agree with most people here. Thery are either in the Common Sump, or the whole fish store is heated. In literally every fish store I have been to EVER, the whole store is heated. Often in a LFS, it is much more convienent to have the whole store heated than to have a heater in each individual tank.

There is nothing wrong with sponge filters, most fish stores ive gone to use them. Most fish stores ive gone to don't use aquarium heaters either, they heat the whole room. Its probably easier and cheaper than running 75 x 200watt heaters.

He said there are no sumps. The tanks are heated with room temp. My lfs does this, which makes it somewhat uncomfortable during those long visits (which seems to be every time).

I don't use heaters in my tanks unless for emergency purposes only but I live in the tropics.
