i think thats plenty big enough for a noto pair. granted that u got a solid pair and theres no quarreling with them. i just picked up 2 females and a male and have them in a 20g long but theyre still small (like1.5 inches). so im hoping to keep themn in the 20long but considering upgrading to something that size if it doesnt work out in the 20.
post up some pics of the notos. always love seeing pike photos
the c. notos are coming in next week. i hope the driftwood, pots, and rocks keep them from fighting. they are still small, about 2-3". i'll post when i get them in.
i'm getting the fish off of aquabid. the seller is wetspotx from oregon. he also has dwarf pikes call C. wallacii. i'm having a hard time finding pics of them. the noto's are wild caught according to the seller. i've been wanting reganis, but i can't find any. the pair might go into my 20g holding tank for a bit because i'm trying to set up a rack of 3 40g tanks. i just need to get a rack and two more 40g tanks.
Only if they are a true bonded pair can you keep them in a 40. If you can get them to pair up in a bigger tank them move the pair to the smaller 40, you'd have better luck.
Wetspotx did have true noto's before (have gotten them twice from there) so the odds they are good. (though once the female was a differant species, aka orinoco dwarf instead of noto female). Their wallacii are actually orinoco dwarves fyi.
I've kept them with Laetacara dwarf acaras and rams with no issues. Even dwarf jewel cichlids (Anomalochromis thomasi) when out of space though when the jewels paired they were a bit rough of the pikes despite being smaller. I usually do a pair of Laetacara with a pair of dwarf pikes and a school of larger, high bodied tetras.
