It it is known it hasn't been mentioned yet.I did hear of a comment from someone who said that they don't think that they can stop the fire.
Too bad, that's so sad to see. Perhaps only investigations later will show for sure, but it appears it may be linked to renovations the building was undergoing, so who knows at this point, if so it could have likely been electrical and/or chemical, e.g. cleaning solutions, varnishes etc.
I just read that. they also said any attempts to douse the fire was water from planes or helicopters could destroy the building.
They have an exact replica of the church in Montreal, which I have visited. I imagine the original is even more beautiful. A shame.
