Thank's for your advice,a larger tank is in the works. When I get a bigger tank the 75 will be moved to the bedroom, maybe the Jag or a pair(another Jag)would be happy in it?

Tongue33,
WOW!.....you just made my mind up on waiting for the 180g.I understand your thoughts on a tank never being large enough....
My fish are still very small(though growing quickly!)and buying a filler tank until I get the one I want would not be smart as I have a family to support.
I looked at your gallery, and I do have some time.
Thank you

Thanks for the input! How old is your 8.5" Jack? How large can I expect mine to get in a 180g or bigger?

My large Jack is maybe almost 2 years old, i got him in August 2004 when he was about 2 inches. He is unbelievably docile and gets along great with goldfish in a 75, my small Jack is pretty mean and spunky, great thing about cichlids is they have individual personalities. Jacks don't get too big, only about 9" max not counting the tail and that's for males. You can expect a Jack to hit max in a 180, they aren't very fast growers like Oscars so it will take time.

I had my oscar in a 40 for 3 years with an eel, and some 4 and 5" african, as well as a MOno that was 7" and a 5" male Convict with two females.. that was interesting;).. In the last two months I've put him in a fifty five. All I could afford.. Read my signature... THreee years in a forty... I just bought a 150 2 days ago. If I were you I wouldn't waste my money on a 125 if you want a 180.. The sooner the better is not going to save you money or help you get your 180 SOONER... If you want the 180.. your seventy five will be just fine for quite a while with such small fish.

Personal preference is the factor here... If you want the facts... All our fish live in river or lake or the ocean. Nothing you buy will be big enough.. SO get the one you want. Not the one that's going to make you wait longer to get the one you want.

unless you want 240 or more then you might want to buy something now LOL.

I cannot waiit to get my 150 up.. But I am buying a house in the next 30 days so I kinda need to... DOn't want to be taking down a 55,40, and a 150.....
your snowflake will need to be acclimated to full marine conditions to live a full life otherwise he will probally die young i am n the process of changing mine over right now

anytime

i would go as big as you can like a 240 gallon would do more than enough
or you could go the extra mile and make a tank

A larger tank would be better that way when your fish get larger you don't have to worrie about disturbing the fish and stressing them out with changing them from tank to tank !
I'll be doing something about this in the near future so as not to stress large fish.
