I love buying fish from walmart for one reason. The people that work there don't have a clue from one fish to another. I went to my local mallwort with a dead rosy barb in a ziplock(which I did buy from there), and asked the lady working near the pet department if I could swap it out for a red devil and pay the difference in price. She scooped out the one that I wanted( the whole time not even looking at the price located directly below the tank) and marked "even exchange" on the bag. I was like"ok?!? and left. Laughing. The difference in price is like 5 bucks. That's about as bad as asking for 50 feeder fish. They never count each one like privately owned stores do so they just keep scooping them out till they think it's enough which by then you could have 150, lol.

lol thats awsome.

Yeah Wal-Mart sucks. But what do you expect.half the people working the floor there make min wage or they're there until another job is available. Not making excuses for them, just stating the facts.

One thing that's kind of cool about Wal-mart is having a fish store open 24 hours a day, It is nice to go shopping and have the opportunity to see fish at 330 in the morning for whatever reason, the fish at the local 24/7 walmart are suprisingly decent, however they are not always in the greatest shape because they don't always get the greatest care. They may have good prices, but it is sad because you know almost all of the fish may either die in the store or in the homes of people that might not have any idea on how to keep them because they were not given the proper care instructions. If you really want to look at things from a strange, different perspective, the employee refusing to sell to you because they felt it was not in the fish's best interest, however wrong they may be, is a small bow-legged limp in the right direction for the Wally Pet dept. ????????? In defense of the employees they are probably not the most experienced, motivated or well trained group of fishkeepers out there, but you must blame the management. I doubt that they give extensive training on pet care or hire people based on their "fish experience"( or even offer a competitive wage to score someone like that), IMO the point of selling fish in many stores or more specifically Wal-Mart, is really not for successful long-term pet ownership, but to move out the much more profitable pet supplies. $2.00 fish = $100+ in supplies! I do think it feels good to "rescue" fish from Walmart, makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside!!
