Ha ha, well I didn't become a lesbian lol. Jeez.

I like your attitude, princess, and I try to be the capable women when I can be. But doesn't it suck that we have to "put them in their place?" And I don't just mean men who are disrespectful to women or vice versa. I just mean people who are rude in general and unwilling to assist, even though it's their job.

When someone comes into my place of work and asks me about something I know, let's say a guy needs help buying clothes for his first baby, I don't get all down on them just because they don't know about something they've never had experience buying/using before. I would never say "You can't put a twenty pound two month old baby in a size for one to three month old babies. Just leave." I would explain that sizing runs by weight and length more than it does age, and I would find him appropriate items. That's good customer service, and it's just the decent thing to do.

How hard would it have been for this guy to have been like "I'm sorry, I can't cut dowels because the blade on this saw is for plywood, and I can't change it myself." I don't work there, I don't know what type of blade they have on their saw, especially since it's covered when employees aren't using it.

It's a moot point now, since it's over. I'm not mad anymore, either, but I'm still put off by the general attitude. And, I don't want to have to wait to get the stuff for my skimmer until one of my guy friends can take time off to come with me to get them, just so that I get treated halfway decently. I never got talked down to when I went in with my ex. It's ridiculous.

Yeah thats crap. My experience is that 96% of employees in retail and customer service and worthless pieces of crap that arent worth the minimum wage they get paid. And I've also had bad experiences with the Lowes board cutting service. The people they hire are so brain dead that they cant even measure right.

When I was building my stand, I had them cut some 2x8 pieces of redwood. Well the measurements ended up being wrong so I just threw them on the floor next to the saw and just bought a whole piece and cut it myself. Sux for them cause redwood isnt cheap either!!

 ....

it doesn't matter if its a woman or man serving me i still make it clear i'm gonna get what i want. fish shops are actually the worst at this...all the lame ass questions about tank size and tank mates, i'm like look i know your doing your job but half the stuff you are telling me not only did you tell me last week when i bought a fish but your also giving me wrong information.

and that is what i say......and suprizingly they smile and say ok..thats it and i get discount! now thats the way to do it.

and if i need help on something i'll ask the person and they go byitchy or can't be bothered i say " nevermind, there's an excellent shop 15mins from here i guess i'll just buy it from there"

First off, I have empathy for you. I am a man who frequents fabric stores (for my wife) and I always get talked down to. They ask me, "Do you know what a square yard is?" or "What are you buying this for?" I rarely know specifics, so they assume I am an idiot. :swear:

As a side note, if you go lez please post pics :headbang2

Man or woman, black or white, young or old, it doesn't really seem to matter who you are, customer service has taken a crap over the past couple decades. It really seems like no one really cares how they treat customers anymore. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of individuals that give superior customer service, but it seems like a lot of the really big chains have just swept their customer service policies under the rug. It seems that it's easier for them to deal with some complaints than to try and get all of their associates to provide decent service.

The jerk that waited on you at Lowe's is a perfect example of this. I would wager that someone with such a piss-poor attitude wouldn't even have been able to get a job at a store like that, let alone be a department manager, 25 years ago.

It really sucks that that's what we have to deal with!

I can tell you lots of stories of being talked down to cause I am a woman. Needed 10 yards of concrete with zero slag - the guy says can't do it. I said yes you can and then he asked if my husband was there so he could talk to a man. Told him I was man enough and I would go somewhere where the men knew what they were talking about.
Went to buy a car and none of the sales guys would wait on me. Finally one (who had another customer) excused himself from them, walked over and asked if I needed a beverage and would help me as soon as he was done. I waited and pointed at a truck and said I'll take that one, who do I make the check out to? He held it up to the other guys who would not help me and laughed!! 2 apologized for ignoring me and said if I ever wanted to buy another vehicle - they would be my man. I did go back - and used the nice guy.
Went to an auction and was bidding on some tools. Guy who was bidding against me finally turned and asked why was a woman buying tools? I told him that not only can I USE every tool under the sun, but can use it BETTER than almost any man.
As far as your rude guy at Lowes - you should have told him if brains were water, he'd be a drought.

1 reason why i dont wanna visit america is because stuff like that ...talking down to women.. sure it happens here but i've never whitnessed it...

i chat to alot of americans on this website/msn and sometimes they'll say something like "woman" or "byatch" and i'm so shocked ...they say it as messing about but i've never actually been called that lol
