Quick little update ... as I've finally found a direction I believe. The plants seem to be doing okay, nothing dead yet, I've tried adding a couple of new ones. Otherwise haven't changed much except move some of the driftwood. Might try playing with CO2 on a smaller tank first.
But I have started a path fish wise. The tank will have the senegal bichir, the Lrg Synodontis Ocellifer ... I placed an order for 6 african butterfly cichlids (will only keep 4 at the end, be cool to get 2 pair though ... and still have a spare tank for the other 2). and my wife has convinced me to add 3 Garras (Dr. Fish) so we'll see.
On a side note ... my oldest son (9yrs) wants his own tank. He wants to do guppies and plants, so we'll be starting a 29/30 with CO2 (so I can learn) and I get to utilize it to start a shrimp farm.
