One of the sharpest macros ever made (supposedly). Made for dental photography (hence the lettering on the barrel).

105mm f2.8 1:1 macro; Lester A. Dine.

The best part? $70 shipped to my door. Eat that $900 Nikon AF-S 105mm.

Just two test photos from my first 20 shots right off the camera. No editing at all, just grabbed the jpegs.

The full cost for my setup for these photos is under $600 (external flash, radio trigger, body, lens, and memory card). Which is less than a new macro lens.

What does luck have to do with it?

I bought it off KEH.com, it was a "bargain" lens but is in immaculate condition. There are a couple small dust specks in the lens, but that's to be expected with any lens of this age.

Only bad thing is there is not TTL metering with my D60, but once I upgrade bodies I'll have TTL as it's a Nikon AI-S lens.

It's a Lester A. Dine 1:2.8 MACRO 1:1 105mm.

I guess the glass is identical to the old Kiron and Vivitar Series 1 105mm macros, which are just as sharp as any of the Nikon 105mm macros if not sharper.

I took some more photos...but realized I have dust all over my sensor so I'm waiting on some sensor cleaning materials.
