A few months ago I came across a little 2" NTT and had to get it. In the last couple of days I started reading about them. It seems a lot of people have had trouble keeping them alive once they get past 7". Nobody really gave reasons why they died, it just seems like sudden death syndrome. What gives? Is there any truth to this? Now that I think about it, I don't see too many full grown NTT's.

Its cause NTT arent as hardy as other dats. Alot of them dont make it cause of who knows what reason. But the problem is when they are small. Once you get them big they are usually in the clear from the whole sudden death thing. Ive had my share of NTTs that just seem to catch everything.

Oh ok I see. Thanks for the info....so they're highly suseptible to diseases, sickness and parasites etc. That's what they said about my Tigrinus but he's 16" now. I really like this little thinbar so I hope he makes it. I just got him to start eating pieces of market shrimp which I stuff with a pellet.

In my opinion, once they are past 8" they are in the clear.

Its the same thing as Tigrinus once you get them past a certain size they seem to be good but when small they seem to have more issues.

How big is it now?

Only 2" but he's not shy at all like I've heard about them. He's always out and about swimming around.

Hopefully I'll have good luck with him and get him up to size.

Thanks a lot for the info.

my 3 inch dat keeps getting ichs idk bout yours

I've only had him a few months and he hasn't gotten anything yet. What temp do you keep your water? You might need to try a higher temp. The cooler the water, the more ick thrives. From what I understand, it can't survive at all above 86F. GL

Is yours a thinbar?
