NTT-Are They Difficult to Raise to Adulthood?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Best advice I can give is to dedicate a tank to it. Ntt seem to be the weakest of all dats with at then ngt and st shortly after. They require extremely clean water and do best with multiple water changes weekly. Most people including myself tend to keep them in schools where the individual may not have optimal conditions. Good luck

If you put it at 87F you'll have success much sooner. GL

In three months? Not anything noticable.

Ok, I have an extra 20L I could set up. But I think that keeping him in the 265g community tank might be better. It seems the water params will fluctuate less in there than a little 20g. What are your thoughts on that?

I have had 1 NTT die at around 2inch for no reason, but the 1 I bought with it has grown to about 7" now.

The 1st Dat I have ever gotten is now about 1'.

I really haven't had enough to determine if I personally noticed a difference in how strong they are compared to other species of Dats. All I know is the ones that have survived in my tanks never had so much as ich all their lives.

i got seven ntt's at about an inch an a quarter. 1 died (Ithink I stressed it by elevating temperature ) I have them eating glo tetra and frozen blood worms. when they hit 3-4 inches I am gonnaa try and convert em to pellets

I keep my NTTS at 83 deg and do 10 gal wc every other day. I feed them krill 3 times a day and they have grown half an inch in the 3 short months I have had them. They are 4"-5" currently, and I am trying to get tham as big as possible as soon as possible to reduce risk of sds. That is the only way to reduce the risk that I have read here and on other sites.

you might want to try and get them on pellets or shrimp. i mainly feed my dats massivore pellets (started training them with carnivore since they are much smaller and easier for them to try and eat) and throw in some shrimp, tilapia, and mussel as treats. i do notice that they grow alot faster and fatter when they are on pellets instead of straight shrimp, tilapia, and mussel.
