about a month ago i noticed mt NTT had a sort of white fungus on the dorsal and along the one side of the body. i removed and placed into quarantine and treated with API PIMAFIX for the better part of the month until there was barley a trace of fungus. it wasn't really eating in the quarantine tank so i placed it back into the original tank. after a couple days was eating krill but i noticed the fungus coming back so i once again placed into quarantine and have been medicating as per direct for all of this week, i woke up today and it was dead. not sure why and didnt see it coming. now im noticing another NTT from the same tank has the same problem. what should i do to prevent this one from dying as well? all water parameters are normal in both tanks.

What has worked wonders for me is just plain aquarium salt, high heat and super clean water. I use morton's solar salt, you can buy it at home depot/lowes, for about $6 for a 40lb bag. I now run my tank with salt all the time now and haven't had any issues. Hope it works out for you.

o wow nice. thanks for that info. is this an issue in all datniods or just the NTT? also how much salt should i use per gallons of water?

I used the recommended dosage, 1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons, although sometimes I think I dose a little more. Remember you have to replenish when you do a waterchange and keep in mind salt doesn't evaporate so if your tank water has gotten low due to evap their is still salt in the water. I wouldn't say its a common thing with datnoids/NTT, I think all fish in general get it one in a while due to water quality/fin nipping/etc...

yea no doubt, just havent evr encountered a problem like this is any of my other fish. i just dosed the tank now man, thanks again for the help.

ok so ive been doing 50% water changes every 3 -4 days and adding about a dose and a half of aquarium salt to that tank. i noticed that the fungus was getting better but not gone completely. today im noticing it now on my IT's dorsal. any suggestions or question i can answer to help figure this out?
thanks.
