NTT Datnoid has ICK, any idea for good treatment?

Guys/Gals, is coppersafe...well safe to use on bichirs? my Dels just got lighter and is breathing hard. It says 1 teaspoon for 4 gallons, I only used about 5 teaspoons for the 120G tank. But they look later and scales looks like they were sucked on. Should I remove from the tank or do a quick water change? You guys think its the coppersafe or the tigerfish brought in some disease?

Buddy make sure you have maximum amount of surface agitation so there is plenty of O2 in that tank.. I'd do a massive water change then just raise the temp and add salt... I never EVER use medication unless it's extreme... Ich is no reason to use meds.... =/

When adding the salt add it in stages... don't dump it all in at once... add it in every 12 hours so they acclimate... and remember.. salt STAYS in your tank.. so if you do a Water Change however much water you remove remember your ration of salt/gallon and re-add that...

Bump your temp up to 85-ish... and just wait it out dude.. you can't kill Ich when it is inside your fish with anything.. you have to get it when the sores burst and they are searching for a new host...

Temp Raised = Quicker Lifecycle of the Ich to a swimming stage

Salt = Dead Ich

Stop using medication.. =/

Hey thanks. I never use meds either its just i got really scared that the dat brought in probably another type of diease so i added only the amount of 20 gallons for a 120 gallons. I did a water change on saturday, i will be doing another today. As of right now the datnoid has no ick on him at all, the themp is at 80 and i do add salt gradually and i do keep my tank to the salty side with reg temps of 74-78 with high surface aeration. As i have mostly bichirs they dont mind the water movement at the top as long as they can go for the air. But im going to keep the temp up and contiune the salt treatment until another 2 weeks. I dont want to risk this thing coming back. Thanks for the info always helpful. The dat is fine as of now, will update conditions soon. Thank you and thank you everyone

Sounds great man... yah just be patient... the #1 thing that goes wrong is people panic and dose with every medication in the book... Hope everything turns out alright and post pics!! =)

mix the salt in a cup of the aquarium water before adding, dissolve it. then raise the temp when the lights are off to 30.
the ich is now part of your tank, so a WC of 50% after the first treatment day would be excellent to eliminate the rest

Friday night, my wife found clown loach have white spot/ich. i start 30'C and add little more salt in. stay one week. let know when white spot go.

Hey good luck clowns are prone to ick. I have one cl left out of my other 6 that died due to chomroise disease... Something like that, my tank was hit hard when once i bought feeders for my gar. Salt and heat always cured my ick problems i paniced this time because i thought the new dat brought in new disease... Anyways good luck your method will 100% work, keep it for 2 weeks and lots of airstones buddy.

Hey guys/gals, I cant get this guy to eat. He is healthy now swims around, color is good, but does not eat, I tried small earthworms, frozen bloodworms, pellets, chicken heart. NTT's are SO DUMB, it makes me MAD! He only put one of the earthworms in his mouth but spit it back out. ARRRGGHH!! Any idea what else I can feed him? I really do not want to go with LIVE fish, I still remember the disaster of feeding my Gar live once(chormois or whatever it was). Please let me know guys.

triy chopped talapia... also try soaking the talapia and shrimp in garlic.. or try chopped silversides as well

Pick up some Garlic Guard from the LFS.. or soak the pieces in chopped garlic..

(I'd try Silversides/Talapia/Shrimp first... then try soaking them in garlic)

It seems Dats take to for their first foods off of live the quickest the winners are: Bloodworms/Shrimp/Talapia/Silversides in my opinion...

Seems salt is the way to go....

The NTT might not eat for 3-4weeks... Then again it may eat tomorrow..
So be prepared and gooh luck.
