NTT won't eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's frozen, look at Kenfish frozen section. Petsmart I don't believe has it, but check some local shop's. They might have it, but it will more expensive. The Mysis petsmart will have is def inferior & nowhere close as appetite stimulating

Day 20 update: I tried some hikari mysis shrimp last night and still no luck. My pleco and gold gourami mop up the food. i am a bit worried bcuz he getting thinner each day. I have even considered moving him back to the big tank with other dats so he can learn to eat. Problem is that the other dats are aggressive.

I know u said bloodworm is gives if an odour but that shouldnt deter you.
Most if not all my tigers when small or newlly introduced wat bloodworm . Its not the most. Nutritious food but it may trigger feeding

It will be hard for it to resist bloodworms. Get him eating that first until he readily takes them. From bloodworms you can convert him onto shrimp. You want to mix blood worms and cut shrimp in a cup with tank water. You want just enough water to cover the food so the blood doesnt get too watered down. It will marinate the shrimp better. Mix it around by holding the cup and moving it in a circular motion to help defrost the mix. You want the bloodworms to stick to the shrimp. Pour it slowly, little at a time and he will eat the free floating bloodworms and the bloodworms that are stuck to the shrimp without realizing it. The shrimp will taste like bloodworms to him. Keep doing this but reduce the amount of bloodworms. This is how I got both my stubborn ngt and ntt to eat right away and convert to shrimp. Good luck to you.

Put it together with pellet trained ones. If it dies, atleast you tried feeding.. but that wont happem because if it's hungry it will for sure eat pellets

When you feed shrimp prawn don't defrost it first

I have never defrosted anything they seam to like it more frozen

Never had a problem and it doesn't mess up the water as much

I just feed the cheap cooked peeled frozen prawns

Thanks guys. I'll try it tonight.

Day 23 update: I chopped half a frozen shrimps then peeled off the shells. I threw it in there and the baby loaches were trying to eat it. Then gold gourami was nipping it. The ntt dat came out of the cave to stare at it for a whole minute but did not take a bite. Ten minutes had passed so I decided to try a cube of brine shrimps but no luck either. I will try marinating in blood worm water in a few days. I think it sort of gross to marinate in blood worm water.

Garlic soak? Try soaking the shrimp in garlic while you're at it. Or get a live worms earthworm, make a whole in the shrimp and stick the worm through. Atleast then he'll get a taste of shrimp maybe?
