Nuchal hump question - Convict

Do male convicts always get their nuchal hump or only when they perceive that they are the king of the tank?

Mine has a hump. But he is in a tank with much bigger fish then him.

mine has a small nuchal lump and hes only 3". he is with one other larger fish tho that he spars with from time to time...and wins

Both my marble cons have humps and they're in a tank ruled by my midas.
Ironically this dominant male midas has no hump.

Genetics plays much more a part than the other variables such as dominance and quality of life.

i have seen a monster con at an lfs with a huge hump. it was in with a proven pair of oscars, a butt load of young oscars 2"-8", huge plecs and silver sharks. i didnt get pics and i no longer live there to get any but it is the only one ive seen like that.

I would like to ask some of these Qs too.
Does the hump appear on every male cichlid/convict when they mature? or is it based on their health/water quality?

If I understand correctly, not all male convict/cichlid get their humps.So,is it genetic or some other things? My male con doesn't seem to be getting his hump though..
