  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
can someone id the blue cichlids, and if theres diff colors, let me know!!
also if they dont get too big even better =)

That's a Psuedotropheus Demasoni. fairly common Lake Malawi mbuna. They are known to be fairly aggressive, and are usually kept in African mbuna tanks that are very heavily stocked to help spread out aggression. as long as it has lots of rocks, nooks, and crannies to claim as it's own they aren't too bad a fish. Also, They do stay fairly small 4" is common, think you can find some in the 5-6" range.

ok guys time for me to take a break from it all
ive been looking and looking for a perfect fish or something i would enjoy, and its been making me go nuts and feel depressed anytime i see my tanks.
the 220s have been shut down for 4mnths now
i just need one favor from all you
i need help building a stress free, relaxing tank(60g i dont want anything bigger than that..
i would like hardy, colorful, community tank (forrest themed/ with hardy plants)
thanks

If you would like a colorful stress free community tank; you could go with a N/a native biotype and get Missouri Longear, Stonecats, Common/Striped Shiners and Northern Killifish; they are all colorfull and hardy fish that you don't need a heater with and would do well together in a community setting.

Hopefully I dont rattle any cages here, but has anyone ever owned a mangrove jack? It's an australian native which often bears the nickname "estuary thug". I used to have one a few years ago and I can definately agree with the nickname. Stuck my finger in the tank once he drew blood; lesson learned.

Uncannily similar. Sometimes here in aus they are referred to as "mangrove snapper" after all, they are a species of snapper commonly found in mangrove/estuarine areas. Over here they have alot more red colouring though.
