Lets do an educated guess on how many of each species or varieities of peacock bass are in the hobby trade, in the United States/Canada

Cichla monoculus
Cichla occelaris domestic
Cichla occelaris guyana
Cichla sp. salvador
Cichla pinima
Cichla sp. occelaris "suriname"
Cichla orinocensis Rio meta
Cichla piquiti
Cichla orinocensis Rio negro
Cichla melaniae "xingu"
Cichla intermedia
Cichla temensis "captive bred"
Cichla temensis Rio negro wild
Cichla nigromaculata "real ones"
Cichla kelberi "rapps"
Cichla kelberi "sharks"
Cichla kelberi "captive bred bahia"

Feel free to condense this, add or subtract, if you copy and past and edit as you reply, we can get a good head count of these guys and lend some insight as to what's available.

so, each following person can do simple math and add to the above, that way we can get a good head count of how many of each species are out there, roughly

what about the sao francisco and arguaiua piquiti or the peruvian monos? not different enough?

I'll post my numbers later this week :D

I only have on guyana ocell right now. My brokopondo ocell and rio meta orino come in tomorrow :)

Cant wait to see some of the heavy hitters lists

Cichla monoculus
Cichla monoculus "peruvian"

Cichla occelaris guyana
Cichla sp. salvador
Cichla pinima
Cichla sp. occelaris "suriname"
Cichla orinocensis Rio meta (4)
Cichla piquiti Araguaia (10)
Cichla piquiti Sao Francisco

Cichla orinocensis Rio negro
Cichla melaniae "xingu"
Cichla intermedia
Cichla temensis "captive bred" (1)
Cichla temensis Rio negro wild
Cichla nigromaculata "real ones"
Cichla kelberi "rapps" (6)
Cichla kelberi "sharks"
Cichla kelberi "captive bred bahia"

---------------------------------------------------------------

since I edited the list to include the different azuls and monos, I thought I'd add what I have anyways at the moment.

10 - azuls araguaia, 4 - kelberi rapps, and 1 captive bred temensis (venezuelan rapps)

I think it'd be best to just list what you have and not what you've had or it'll mess everything up.

awesome thread, dont have any cichla of my own but look forward to getting some in the future
