Nurse Shark at LFS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I find it downright disgusting that you bought this shark that is unless you have a 20,000 gallon lagoon to keep them in. A nurse will grow to 10 feet long. You do not currently have a tank suitable to even keep it in now. Your going to kill both of your nurses. I am so p****d off right now :angryfire. Did you even think to do any research before you bought this shark? Or did you just think it wold be ok to stunt its growth. I have a feeling you don't even care about the lives of you tank inhabitants. To buy a living animal where you can't even provide the right sized home for and by doing that harming it. That is just $&@#ing disgusting:swear:. By posting your thread here you can influence other people to think its alright to mistreat these magnificent animals and that it is ok to stunt the growth of a shark. Not only that but you are way over stocking a "small" tank that is not meant to keep such large animals for a long time. :banhim:
I think it should be made illegal to purchase this animal unless you can prove that you have the proper facilities to provide a large enough home for it its entire life.
Where is Em to flame this dude when you need her.:flamed:

As much as what you said is true..
You DO realize it's not his shark, right?

geez,i dont get it,why would anyone ever subject a nurse shark to that type of fate, its just stupid,i know of no one who can PROPERLY house one and a 300 is no where near half the size he needs

lol whoops! We all love to jump in but c'mon dude :D

Also you raise an interesting point zerelli.

haha it's okay bro. no i agree with everyone. i think this is outrageously cruel to keep this shark AT ALL! I think that what we do (fish keeping) is a great hobby, however, the line must be drawn somewhere and unfortunetly, money makes people do some terrible things.

While I don't agree - that the Nurse Shark is completely unsuited for private Aquarists. It's certainly not suited for the vast majority of private Aquarists. And it's absolutely not the "beginner" species - that many LFS & online dealer claim that it is.

IMPO - it's only slightly better suited for private Aquaria - than any requiem Sharks (Carcharhinids) - this includes Blacktip Reefs & bonnetheads.

Holster the flamethrowers for a sec, cause I don't actually want to buy a shark.
I live in the middle of the prairies and only see sharks in restaurants. They look much smaller on a dinner plate.
I was just wondering how much $ the LFS is charging for this critter.
Oh, I've seen them at West Edmonton Mall, but that's not exactly an untamed wilderness. Unless you're looking for parking at X-mass.
