Earthworms > bloodworms

It's also really easy to gut-load earthworms with additional vitamins and clean their system of dirt before feeding.

Thanks Sarah88,
Oddball, wow ,thats a huge % of protein for earthworms, they'll definitely be getting some of those,
Modestman,sounds interesting,how is that done?

earthworms definitely have more nutrition, they make great healthy snacks but like said before i think a varied diet is best, stick with pellet for staple and feed all the bugs you want as treats, that's what i do and my fish are growing like weeds :) since i moved into the city i can't use any of the bugs i find outside since the stupid HOA people spray pesticides all the time, but back when i lived with my parents in the country my fish got all the grasshoppers, crickets and earthworms they could want, so as long as you know nothing is being sprayed with pesticides then go for it

This is how I feed my fish, I also add veggies to the diet of my Omnivores (JD, GT, & convict)

You can just put them in a damp paper towel in the fridge for a couple days before feeding if you want them to void their intestinal tract.

If you really want to get hardcore you can let them roam around in a bowl of cold oatmeal that has had liquid vitamins added to it.

Honestly, I pull them out of the garden, rinse them off and toss them in. Usually a day or so before my water change.

I usually wait until it rains really good, then go out to the garden at night if the ground is still really wet. I then take a flashlight and you can see them laying out on top of the soil. I usually end up with about 25 to 40. I put them in the fridge and feed to my fish about once a week.

It's nice living in the Pacific Northwest it rains a lot here.
