You should focus on the food pyramid, the FDA has a few charts out there, lots of grains and cereals, fruits and vegetables, less dairy.

A few guppies is probably to small a portion. Fish should still be eaten a few times a week, but I would go with renewable fish like tilapia or farm raised salmon, and trout.

I hear this topic come up often about minnows and gold fish not being health for fish, and granted a fish food like Massivore has suppplments that enhance the fish health and color I'd assume, but has anyone actually had issuse they could prove was the fault of goldfish or minnows killing their fish? I only ask because I have been rasing fish for many years ( probably more than 75 % of people on here) and have even breed a few dfferent species in my time and have never had an issue with bait store minnows or pet store goldfish. In fact I have run across some of those fish that would only eat live feeders and grew to great sizes and live for years this way. So where does the idea that they are not health or have no benefit for your predatory fish come into play? After all, it is natures way for recycling itself.... Some one school me on proof of this nutritional value or lack of should I say, as well.
Now just for the record, I do feed fish food because I believe it has some vitamins effects, plus it cheaper than buying feeders every few days....

The family of fish known as cyprinids, which include minnows & goldfish, are apparently full of thiaminase; which is a B1 inhibitor. There is too much controversy surrounding this subject therefore I have chosen not to feed my fish members of the cyprinid family in total. Now, instead of now making this a somewhat unrelated subject on this thread, here is a link that discusses the issues(s) surrounding this inhibiting substance, for anyone that cares to read it.. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_6/volume_6_1/thiaminase.htm

im not a nutrition expert on fish, but i have seen dozens of people say there is little to no nutritional value to feeder fish... that being said, i do like feeding them to give my fish a little exersize chasing them.

Just like JC_P said. I personally believe they aren't healthy. I would do anything in my power to avoid live feeder fish. Regardless whether they are wild or farm raised. I don't trust them.
