Too bad you're not in the DC area. I've got an 70+ ft Pin Oak out back and an even bigger Willow oak out front...in the fall you could take a truck of the things for free!

If you don’t have oak you can use magnolia, alder, Apple, almond. Walnut maybe?

I have a magnolia tree in my backyard. Magnolia grandifolia. Lots of leaves. Beautiful all the time, specially when it blooms.

Collect in the fall and great to hear you will be using them.
